EFFINGHAM COUNTY, GA : 1 dead, 4 injured in Effingham County motorcycle crash on Thursday, 1st June 2023

The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) is investigating a deadly motorcycle crash that claimed the life of an Ellabell man Thursday night.

According to officials, the motorcyclist, James Martin, 58, was attempting to pass a semi-truck traveling west on Highway 80 near Meldrim Road when he struck a car head-on traveling east. Martin died at the scene. Martin’s wife, who was riding a separate motorcycle, also crashed due to the debris from the initial impact and was transported to a local area hospital with possible serious injuries.
