HOWARD, CO : Victim in Howard crash identified on Friday, January 27th 2017
The Colorado State Patrol is investigating an accident that led to the death of a pedestrian on U.S. 50 here Friday evening.According to Trooper Tim Ortiz, the accident occurred at 7:17 p.m. when an eastbound 2004 Dodge Durango driven by Christopher Monroe of Howard struck a pedestrian who was walking in the eastbound lane on U.S. 50.
The pedestrian, who was identified as Tracy Roe, 54, died on scene, according to Fremont County Coroner Randy Keller. Monroe, who was not injured, stopped his vehicle on the eastbound shoulder.
According to Ortiz, the patrol is investigating whether alcohol or drug use by the pedestrian could have played a part in the accident. He said speed of the vehicle driven by Monroe was not a factor.
The highway was closed for several hours Friday evening to allow troopers time to investigate.
