Alamance,NC : Driver killed in horrific crash on July, Monday 24th 2017
The North Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed the driver of a speeding car that crashed in a yard in the 4000 block of N.C. 87 South died Monday night.
“It sounded like a bomb went off,” said Steven Jeffries, who lives across the street from the house where the car stopped.
The car was driving south at high speed when it went off the road and crashed at about 7:10 p.m, officials said. It went airborne and hit multiple trees. One pine had a visible scar about five feet off the ground. The car was in at least three major pieces with many smaller parts scattered around the yard.
The Eli Whitney Fire Department, Alamance County EMS, Alamance County Rescue, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office and the Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
The identity of the driver will not be released until the family can be notified, said Master Trooper Brandon Baker.
