Ventura, CA : 22-year-old man was killed in a crash on Monday October 6th 2014.
A 22-year-old man was killed in a crash on Highway 101 near Ventura early Monday after surviving a previous crash, officials said.
The California Highway Patrol responded about 3:45 a.m. to northbound Highway 101 just north of the State Beaches off-ramp, officials said.
Three men returning to San Luis Obispo from Los Angeles were heading north on the highway when for unknown reasons, the 22-year-old driver lost control of the SUV, drifted to the left and into the center divider, officials said.
The SUV veered back to the right and overturned onto its roof, blocking the No. 1 and 2 lanes of the roadway.
The driver and two passengers were able to get out of the vehicle and were standing in the center divider when another vehicle stopped ahead of the crash, officials said. The driver of the other car asked the crash victims if they were OK and went back to his car to call 911. The passerby then saw a van, driven by a 63-year-old Oxnard man, heading toward the overturned SUV and he tried to warn the crash victims, but the van struck the truck and the people.
