Omaha, NE : 1 dead after crash involving motorcycle near N 168th Street and Ames Street on Saturday, 31st October, 2020

One person has died following a crash involving a motorcycle Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened around 1 p.m. near N 168th Street and Ames Street.According to Omaha police, a 2014 Dodge Caravan was headed north on 168th Street and attempted to make a u-turn at Ames Street.

Police said the van then hit a 2015 Harley motorcycle that was heading north and was behind the van.

Another motorcycle laid his bike down to avoid the crash, according to police.

An off duty officer arrived at the scene and attempted to perform CPR until medics arrived, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, OPD said.

OPD stated that alcohol and excessive speed were not factors in the crash.
