Tucson, AZ : A 16-year-old boy has died in a pickup truck crash at Speedway Boulevard and Esperanza Drive on Saturday, April 23rd, 2016

A 16-year-old Tucson boy has died after his pickup truck crashed.

Police say the accident happened around 3:30 a.m. Saturday in the area of Speedway Boulevard and Esperanza Drive.

Sgt. Pete Dugan says the Ford pickup truck driven by 16-year-old Austin Butler hit a raised median and then several trees.

The impact caused the vehicle to roll over.

Dugan says witnesses attempted to give first-aid to Butler.

He was transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries several hours later.

He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Dugan says speed appears to be a factor in the crash.

Investigators have not determined if impairment contributed to it.
