SPRINGFIELD, OH : Man cited for OVI, hit and skip after head-on crash on Friday, March 31st 2017
A driver who fled the scene of a crash in Springfield is facing multiple charges.
The Ohio State Patrol says the head-on crash happened just after 2 a.m. on Friday on South Limestone Street under the I-70 overpass.OSP says a man was driving a car north on S. Limestone when he was hit head on by a man driving a pickup truck the wrong way in the northbound lane.
The man in the pickup truck fled the scene and returned to a house near the scene of the crash. Authorities say they were able find the suspect because one of the license plates on his truck tore off during the crash and was left at the scene.
OSP troopers went to the house and interviewed the man, eventually citing him for OVI and hit and skip. OSP says the man could face additional charges. Authorities are not releasing the name of the suspect yet.
The man driving the car had to be cut out of his vehicle due to the damage. The 67-year-old was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center.
