LYNDEBOROUGH, NH : A two-car crash on Route 31 on Wednesday, November, 15th 2017

A Peterborough woman has been charged in connection with a two-car crash on Route 31 Wednesday that sent two Greenfield residents to hospitals — one of them with life-threatening injuries.

N.H. State Police arrested Rebecca Rodenhiser, 38, of Peterborough at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester and charged her with felony aggravated driving while under the influence, a news release from the agency said Wednesday night.

Rodenhiser had been taken to the hospital from the crash scene with serious injuries, according to the release.

The driver of the second vehicle in the crash, Joanne Vandeusen, 67, of Greenfield, was taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua with serious injuries, police said.

A passenger in the 2005 Volvo S40 sedan Vandeusen was driving, Abou Sylla, 59, of Greenfield, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken by medical helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, police said.

An initial investigation found that Rodenhiser was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse north on Route 31 at the same time Vandeusen was driving south on the road, according to police. The Chevrolet crossed over into the southbound lane and struck the Volvo head-on, the release says. The crash remains under investigation.

Lyndeborough police, along with members of Lyndeborough Fire and Rescue, responded to the crash, which was reported at about 2 p.m.

Lyndeborough police requested assistance from the N.H. State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit because of the seriousness of the crash, the release says.

Route 31 was closed for about four hours in the area of the incident.

Police ask anyone with further information about the crash, or who witnessed it, to contact Trooper Daniel Quartulli at 223-8993 or at daniel.quartulli@dos.nh.gov.
