Claremore, OK : One person injured after a head-on collision on State Highway 20 west of Claremore on Monday, April 18, 2016

A head-on collision on State Highway 20 west of Claremore just after 1:30 p.m. on Monday sent a man to a Tulsa hospital in serious condition.

Christopher Dawson, 20, of Collinsville was traveling behind another eastbound vehicle on SH20 when traffic began stopping to turn onto NS4120, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

The report stated that Dawson, for unknown reasons, did not stop and struck the rear of the vehicle in front of him. Dawson’s vehicle then “went eastbound into the westbound lane” and struck a third vehicle head-on.

Dawson was pinned for approximately 18 minutes before being extricated by the Claremore Fire Department.

He was transported by Pafford EMS to St. John Hospital and admitted with multiple injuries, according to the OHP report.

The driver of the rear-ended vehicle had no reported injuries. The driver of the vehicle struck head-on by Dawson’s vehicle refused treatment at the scene.

OHP will continue investigating the collision.
