Pompano Beach , FL : 18- Years old Wesni Charles killed in Crash after car crashes into tree along I - 95 on Friday morning ,April 3rd 2015

A driver is dead after an early-morning crash on Interstate 95 in Pompano Beach.

The crash happened shortly before 5:30 a.m. Friday in the southbound lanes near the Copans Road exit.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the car drove off the highway for reasons unknown and struck a tree.

The driver, identified as Wesni Charles, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two southbound lanes were closed for several hours during the investigation.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
