Norfolk, VA : One dead, one injured after Virginia Beach crash overnight on Saturday, 13th August, 2016

One person is dead and another is injured after a crash early Saturday morning on Fort Story Hospital Road in Virginia Beach, according to police.

A Chevrolet Camaro and a Nissan were driving southbound on Fort Story Hospital Road just after 12:30 a.m. when they came up to a curve and the driver of Nissan lost control of the car, went off the roadway and hit a tree, police said.

The driver did not survive the crash and the passenger of the vehicle was transported to a hospital with serious injuries, police said.

The driver and two passengers of the Camaro were not injured, police said.

Charges are pending against the driver of the Camaro and police are still investigating.

Police say alcohol and speed are contributing factors in the crash.

The names of drivers and passengers have not been released.
