Mount Airy,MD : Two sent to hospital after Md. 27 crash on August, Tuesday 22nd 2017

Two people were taken to the hospital following a three-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon on Md. 27 near Roop Road in Mount Airy.

Cynthia Lynn Arnold, 48, of New Windsor, and Osborne Sungkwon Jones, 28, of Germantown, were airlifted to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for injuries sustained in the crash, according to Maryland State Police, which is investigating the crash. Both are in serious but stable condition, according to police.

A third driver, Nicholas Dryden McNary, 22, of Eldersburg, was not injured.

A preliminary investigation showed McNary was driving a 2006 Ford E350 pickup north on Md. 27 when the vehicle struck the rear of 2009 Toyota Yaris, driven by Arnold, according to police. The collision caused the Yaris to travel into the southbound lane of Md. 27, striking a 2007 Acura TSX driven by Jones.

The roadway was closed for approximately one hour as a result of the collision.

Law enforcement are seeking the public’s assistance investigating the crash. Anyone who may have information or who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Trooper Petry at the state police’s Westminster Barrack by calling 410-386-3000.

Troopers responding to the crash were assisted by the Winfield and Mount Airy volunteer fire companies, as well as the Maryland State Highway Administration.
