Anderson County , SC : Belton man killed after car ran off the right side of the road, swiped a telephone pole and overturned on Sunday morning , November 23d 2014
A Belton man killed in a car wreck early Sunday morning was a full-time student at Tri-County Technical College who also worked a night shift at a local company.
Troy Alan Kinser, 23, died of head and neck injuries at the scene of the wreck, said Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore after an exam Sunday. The wreck was reported around 2 a.m., but Shore said he thinks it occurred at least an hour before that.
Kinser was driving a 1996 two-door Ford on U.S. 76 just outside Anderson, heading toward Belton, said Cpl. Bill Rhyne with the South Carolina Highway Patrol. His car ran off the right side of the road, swiped a telephone pole and overturned, Rhyne said. Kinser was the only person in the car.
Alcohol and speed were factors in the crash, Shore said. He said Kinser was wearing a seat belt.
Kinser was studying mechatronics, a combination of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and information technology, at Tri-County, said his father, Ricky Kinser. This was his first semester.
Kinser also worked a night shift at the Fraenkische USA in Anderson, where he helped make industrial pipes, his father said.
Kinser enjoyed fishing, and he and his father worked on antique hot rods and muscle cars.
“He and I both were into old cars,” Ricky said.
He attended Belton-Honea Path High School and got a GED from the adult education center, Ricky said. Kinser loved math and science throughout his education.
His girlfriend, Casey Todd, said Kinser was goofy and made people smile. Whenever he smiled, he would say “cheeeeese,” she said.
“He had a great personality,” Todd said.
