Jefferson City, MO : Three-vehicle accident on U.S. 40 at Interstate 470 on April, Saturday 22nd 2017
Independence police continue to investigate Saturday’s three-vehicle accident on U.S. 40 at Interstate 470, which claimed the life of a 38-year-old Creighton, Missouri, man.
Police say Ronnie Faulkner had been driving a car stopped at a light on U.S. 40 when he was broadsided by a pickup truck that had been southbound on I-470 and lost control.
The fatal accident happened about 1:35 p.m., Saturday, police said, when the driver of a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado lost control of his pickup truck while southbound on I-470 near the U.S. 40 overpass. The truck left the road, struck the exit sign, continued down the embankment and struck a 2017 Nissan Murano in the westbound lanes. It then smashed into Faulkner’s 1998 Honda Accord. Faulkner died of his injuries in the crash.
Creighton is on Missouri 7 southeast of Harrisonville.
The other two drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries. Police have not yet determined what caused the Silverado driver to lose control.
The crash caused led to traffic backups on U.S. 40 and nearby roads for a few hours in the afternoon, as police closed U.S. 40 in both directions at the I-470 underpass.
