Rehoboth, DE : One killed, one injured in Milton crash on Thursday, 10th November 2016
A 25-year-old Millsboro woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Route 5 in Milton Nov. 10.
The crash occurred shortly before 8 p.m. south of Diamond Farm Road as Staten Island, N.Y., resident James J. Lynn, 29, was driving a 2016 Dodge Dart northbound on Route 5 approaching a curve in the road. For unknown reasons, the car drove off the east side of the roadway onto the grass and hit a utility pole. The car then rotated clockwise before coming to a stop in the grass on the right side of the road, said Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier.
Millsboro resident Brittani R. Yilmaz, 25, who was a passenger in the front seat, was pronounced dead at the scene. Fournier said she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Lynn was flown to Christiana Medical Center and treated and released for nonlife-threatening injuries. He is charged with operating a motor vehicle causing the death of another person, failing to remain in a single lane and failing to have insurance. He was released after posting $2,000 secured bond, Fournier said.
The state police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing an investigation. Harbeson Road south of Diamond Farm Road was closed for about three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared and utility crews repaired downed wires.
