Los Gatos, CA : 50-year-old man killed in a two-car crash on state Highway 17 in Los Gatos on Saturday night, February 7, 2015

A 50-year-old man died after his stalled car was struck by an SUV on Highway 17 in San Jose shortly before midnight on Saturday, the California Highway Patrol said.
The man was in a sedan that had become disabled by a prior collision and had stopped in the southbound lanes south of Lark Avenue, a CHP report said.
Another driver in a southbound SUV could not stop in time before his vehicle collided with the left rear of the sedan, spinning the sedan counter clockwise until it stopped facing northbound on the freeway, the CHP said.
Officers said they found the sedan’s driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, inside the car not breathing and without a pulse. Resuscitation efforts were not successful and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not immediately released.
The SUV driver, a 78-year-old man, was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, police said.
The accident blocked all lanes of traffic. The CHP said alcohol has not been ruled out as a factor in the crash, which was still under investigation.
