Swanton, VT : Man falls asleep, crashes into barn on Vermont Route 207 in Swanton on Sunday afternoon, June 26, 2016

A car hit a utility pole, crashed into a barn and burst into flames after a Milton man fell asleep at the wheel Sunday afternoon on Vermont Route 207 in Swanton, police said.

Rene Lafromboise, 62, told troopers he fell asleep before crashing around 3:20 p.m.

The car was engulfed in flames, which damaged the barn. Power was knocked out in the area.

The road was closed for approximately one hour, state police said.

Lafromboise had only minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt and his airbags deployed.
