Lawrence, MI : Wisconsin man and woman injured after a crash in Lawrence Township on Monday afternoon, February 1, 2016
A Wisconsin man and woman were hospitalized when their Chevy Suburban was struck at the intersection of County Road 681 and Red Arrow Highway in Lawrence Township Monday afternoon.
The Bloomingdale woman driving the other vehicle was not injured, authorities said.
At 3:01 p.m. Jessica and Jose Celis, both 30, of Milwaukee, were westbound on Red Arrow Highway when their 1997 Chevrolet Suburban 4X4 was struck by a 2012 Dodge Journey driven by Brittany Britten, 21, of Bloomingdale, according to a news release from the Van Burn County Sheriff's Office.
Britten was northbound on County Road 681 when she failed to yield to the Suburban driven by a Jessica Celis, striking its rear quarter panel and causing it to go sideways and then roll over several times.
The front seat passenger, Jose Celis, was ejected from the vehicle while it was rolling over.
Jessica Celis was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extricated. She was listed in fair condition and Jose Celis listed in serious condition Tuesday at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Assisting deputies at the scene were Van Buren Emergency Medical Services, Lawrence Quick Response, Lawrence Fire Department, Michigan State Police and the Pokagon Tribal Police.
Deputies are still investigating the accident at this time. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, authorities said.
