A man and a woman were seriously injured after a single-motorcycle crash along Route 125 on Wednesday evening, according to police.
Rochester Police, Fire and Frisbie EMS responded to Route 125/Gonic Road in the area of Brookfarm Village at approximately 6:20 p.m. for the report of a crash involving a single motorcycle, Rochester Police said in a statement. The motorcycle operator and a passenger were injured.
After a preliminary investigation, police said the 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling south on Route 125 when the rear tire popped and rapidly deflated. The motorcycle fell to the ground and slid to a stop on the shoulder of the road, ejecting both riders to the pavement. The driver was identified as Michael Lurvey, 41, and the passenger was identified as Katherine Maleham, 31, both of Nottingham. Lurvey and Maleham both suffered serious injuries and were transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital by Frisbie EMS, police said.
The motorcycle did not strike any other vehicle and did not hit the guard rail, police said.
The road was shut down for a short period of time for the investigation, police said.
