A 24-year-old man was seriously injured when his motorcycle struck a car on Buffalo Shoals Road at Poppy Lane Sunday afternoon.
Nicholas Jones of Statesville was transported to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, said Trooper A.C. Gwaltney of the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Gwaltney said the crash happened when a Nissan Altima, driven by John Grant, 36, of Statesville, was turning left from Buffalo Shoals Road onto Poppy Lane. “There’s a slight dip there and he didn’t see the motorcycle,” Gwaltney said.
He said the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed.
No one else was injured and no charges have been filed, Gwaltney said.
