An Upstate assistant principal was injured and her son was killed in a car accident, according to school district officials.Officials said Florence Chapel Middle School assistant principal Ingrid Anderson was injured in the accident on Interstate 95 while the family was headed to Florida for vacation on Monday night.
Her son, 17-year-old Lyndon, was killed.Spartanburg County District 5 officials released a statement that said, “We are heartbroken over the loss to the Anderson family. All of District 5 is praying for them during this tragic time, and for Ingrid in her recovery."
Anderson is expected to be released from the hospital in a few days after being airlifted after the crash.The Georgia State Patrol said the 2004 Ford Expedition the family was in blew a tire and the driver lost control. Troopers said the vehicle went into the shoulder of the road, began to rotate clockwise, reentered the road and overturned three times.
They said the driver and three passengers were taken to the hospital by ambulance.The school's Parent Teacher Organization will have a hot dog plate sale fundraiser to help the family with medical and funeral bills.
