Aberdeen, WA : Victim identified in fatal South Aberdeen crash on Tuesday, February 14th 2017
The man killed in the one-vehicle accident in South Aberdeen Tuesday has been identified by Grays Harbor County Coroner Lane Youmans as Walter Harris Jr., 53, of Aberdeen.
Next of kin have been notified of the death. Officers had been unable to immediately positively identify Harris because he was not carrying any identification. An autopsy performed Thursday found the cause of death to be blunt force injuries of the head and trunk and the manner of death to be an accident.
Harris was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Witnesses told Aberdeen Police Harris’ car was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Boone Street before veering into the left lane, striking a curb and a pole protecting a large propane tank before being stopped by a concrete footing and metal light pole at Swanson’s Supermarket. The roadway was closed for three hours during the investigation, which is ongoing.
