Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on in Torrington Wyoming
A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Route 8 southbound near exit 45 Monday night, state police said.The victim’s identity was being withheld Monday night until family could be notified. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The motorcycle went through a wire guardrail on the side of the right lane. Other details of the accident, which occurred about 4:55 p.m., were not immediately released.
As of 7:45 p.m., one lane of the highway remained closed as state police from Troop B in Canaan investigated the crash. Traffic was moving slowly past the scene of the accident. The state Department of Transportation said the lane would be closed for several hours.
Emergency crews, including Torrington and Torringford firefighters, state and local police and Campion Ambulance were dispatched to the scene.The accident is near the Greenwoods Road bridge and several people stopped their cars on the overpass to look at the scene below. Police were later dispatched to the bridge to clear out the onlookers.
