TAMPA, FL : 1 dead after fiery crash on Waters Ave in Tampa at the I-275 on Saturday, 5th January 2019

One person is dead after a fiery crash on Waters Avenue in Tampa.

Tampa police say a car slammed into a wall at the I-275 overpass early Saturday morning. The car then burst into flames.

Police say they tried to stop the car near Rome Avenue shortly before it crashed. Officers did not say why they tried to stop the car, but tell us they stopped following it when the driver took off.

Authorities have not released any information on the person who died in the crash.

Both sides of Waters Avenue have been closed off in the area while police investigate.
