Oakley, CA : ATV driver injured after crash in the 600 block of Poplar Court on Sunday night, April 17, 2016
A man riding an all-terrain vehicle crashed Sunday night and was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries, the East Contra Cosat Fire Protection District said.
Oakley police were investigating the crash, which happened around 5:57 p.m. in the 600 block of Poplar Court, according to a statement from Batallion Chief Jake Gonzalez. Paramedics arrived to find a man believed to be in his 30s suffering from a head injury.
Initial reports from emergency callers indicated the man was riding the ATV in a residential street when he may have run into a parked vehicle, Gonzalez said. He did not appear to be wearing a helmet.
Paramedics treated the man at the scene, then transported him by ambulance to a grass park near the crash scene where a medical helicopter picked him up, Gonazlez said. The man went to the trauma unit at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.
His condition Monday morning was not known immediately.
