Yonkers, NY : One person killed in a single-car crash on the Bronx River Parkway on Sunday, January 4, 2015

Police are investigating a fatal single-car crash on the Bronx River Parkway.

It happened around 11 a.m. Sunday in the southbound lanes near Exit 11W in Yonkers.

Police say witnesses described the car spinning around after hitting the side of the concrete overpass. The driver was not immediately identified.

The Journal News says the center and right southbound lanes were shut down for more than five hours. At one point, traffic was backed up for about 40 minutes on the Sprain Brook Parkway.
