Sparks, NV : Driver, at least one passenger flee scene of Sparks crash on Sunday morning, Aug 16, 2015

The Nevada Highway Patrol is on the lookout for a driver -- and at least one passenger -- who fled the scene of a car crash early Sunday morning in Sparks.

Troopers were sent to a single-vehicle collision that happened at about 4 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 80 just past the Rock Boulevard exit, NHP said.

Troopers said they believe a gray Subaru Impreza with Nevada plate 289AYS was traveling eastbound on I-80 when -- for reasons unknown -- the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle rotated as it traveled in a southeast direction toward the paved shoulder on the right side, NHP said. The vehicle then struck the right concrete barrier wall and continued to rotate northeast across all travel lanes of I-80. Troopers reported the vehicle then entered the left inside median and struck the inside concrete median barrier. The vehicle was deflected in a southeast direction across travel lanes and entered the right paved shoulder. With its front, the Subaru struck and came to rest against the right side concrete barrier, according to an official release from NHP.

The driver and at least one passenger fled the scene on foot and are still at large. One male passenger was taken by ambulance to Renown where he remains with serious injuries, NHP said.

Troopers said this area of I-80 is two lanes in each direction and the speed limit is 65 mph.
