A city of Janesville dump truck collided with a small SUV in downtown Janesville on Tuesday morning, sending the SUV driver to the hospital and tying up traffic for about 30 minutes.
The crash was reported at 10:26 a.m. Tuesday at the corner of Parker Drive and Milwaukee Street. The truck was headed north on Parker Drive, while the SUV was westbound on Milwaukee Street, police said.
The truck, which was hauling brush, had a wing plow attached on its right side. The plow made contact with the driver's side of the Jeep SUV, said police Sgt. Brian Vaughn.
The SUV spun around and ended up with its rear end inches from the entrance to the Hilltop International Pub, 121 East Milwaukee St.
No damage was evident on the building. No damage could be seen on the truck, and the truck driver appeared to be uninjured.
Firefighters cut the center door post to remove the SUV driver.
Vaughn said he had no immediate information about the extent of the male driver's injuries.
Traffic lights control the intersection. It was not clear who had the right of way, and the accident remains under investigation, Vaughn said.
