Foxboro, RI:1 hurt in 2-car accident on I-95 on Sunday, July 19th 2015
One person was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with serious but non life-threatening injuries after a two-car accident on Interstate 95 Sunday afternoon.State Police Trooper Matthew Guarino said a 2015 Nissan Quest minivan was stopped in the breakdown lane with a flat tire when it was struck by a 2005 Ford Escape operated by 30-year-old Adalberto Funes of Providence.Funes was charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.Foxboro Fire Capt. Edward Noonan said the victim was trapped in the car but that firefighters were able to extricate him without using the Jaws of Life tool.A medical helicopter was notified but later cancelled as the victim was taken by ambulance to the hospital.Firefighters from Mansfield responded as well and assisted with the extrication, said Mansfield Fire Capt. William Burgess.The occupants of the minivan, two female adults from Somerville and four children, were not injured in the crash, Guarino said.The accident, which remains under investigation, occurred about 2:23 p.m. on I-95 south near the Interstate 495 interchange.
