Fresno, CA : Fresno County sheriff’s deputy involved in crash on Highway 180 on Tuesday, January 3rd 2017
A Fresno County sheriff’s deputy was involved in a traffic collision Tuesday afternoon on Highway 180 near Chateau Fresno Avenue, the sheriff’s office reported.
The deputy was transported to the hospital with major injuries to his lower body, but those injuries are not life-threatening, said Fresno County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Tony Botti. The other driver sustained minor injuries, said California Highway Patrol Sgt. Matt Radke.
The Fresno Fire Department said crews were able to rescue the deputy, who was pinned in.
Westbound Highway 180 was blocked for a time west of Fresno, the Sheriff’s Office said. The collision was reported about 4:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch log. The road was reported open just before 6 p.m.
