Eaton Twp, OH : Five people injured in 4-vehicle crash on State Route 57 in Lorain County on Sunday, July 5, 2015

The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Elyria Post is investigating a four-vehicle crash in Eaton Township that left five people injured.

A media release by the OSHP detailed the crash occurred at around 2:42 p.m. Sunday on State Route 57 at Chestnut Ridge Road.

The OSHP said an SUV driven by Raven Rodriguez, 31, of Cleveland, was carrying two passengers when it was heading east on Chestnut Ridge Road, approaching a red light at the intersection at State Route 57.

A Lincoln pickup truck driven by Michael J. Rider, 48, of Elyria, was heading north and approaching a green light in the same area. A Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, driven by Dennis B. Hamilton, 60, of Elyria, and a Ford Focus driven by a 17-year-old Wellington girl, were at a stop westbound on Chestnut Ridge Road at a red light.

Authorities said Rodriguez ran the red light and was struck by Rider. Debris from the impact struck Hamilton's vehicle, and Rodriguez then struck the Ford Focus driven by the 17-year-old, before traveling off the left side of the roadway and overturning.

Rider, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, sustained incapacitating injuries and was taken to University Hospitals - Elyria Medical Center. He was later flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

The 17-year-old girl sustained minor injuries and was also taken to University Hospitals - Elyria Medical Center. She was wearing a seatbelt during the incident.

Rodriguez was ejected from the vehicle and sustained incapacitating injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was first taken to University Hospitals - Elyria Medical Center, before being flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

The two occupants in Rodriguez's vehicle sustained possible injuries. Authorities said 32-year-old Charelle Perry, of Cleveland, was trapped in the vehicle and sustained incapacitating injuries. She was taken to University Hospitals - Elyria Medical Center and was later flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. It is unknown if Perry was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

31-year-old Johnell Angel Putnam, also in Rodriguez's car during the crash, sustained possible injuries, but was not taken to a hospital or treated. Putnam was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Alcohol use by Rodriguez is suspected as a factor in the crash.

Charges are pending the investigation into the crash.
