Baltimore County police say a 78-year-old man died in a crash involving a police car in Middle River on Tuesday morning. Thomas Casimer Degutis, of the 200 block of Kingston Park, Middle River, died at the scene of the collision, which occurred just after 11 a.m. at the intersection of Eastern Boulevard and Kingston Road. Police said the officer was responding to a hit-and-run call when the collision occurred, and was traveling westbound on Eastern Boulevard. The vehicle being driven by Degutis was traveling southbound on Old Eastern Avenue. Degutis was not involved in the hit-and-run call, police said. Degutis was declared dead at the scene. The officer, who has not been identified, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
