Shawnee, OK : Woman dies in Seminole County crash on Friday afternoon, December 16, 2016
An Oklahoma City woman died Friday afternoon in a crash on westbound Interstate 40 near mile marker 204 in Seminole County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a 2016 GMC SUV driven by Diane Norton, 65, was westbound on I-40 when the vehicle departed the roadway to the right for unknown reasons and rolled an unknown number of times before coming to rest on its wheels.
The driver was pinned for about 25 minutes being being freed by the Strother Fire Department with the use of the Hurst tool. She was transported by REACT EMS ambulance to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where she died from her injuries, the patrol said.
Cause of the accident is under investigation. The OHP said seat belts were in use.
