Auburndale, FL : 58-year-old motorcyclist dies in Auburndale crash on Saturday, 13th October 2018

A motorcyclist was killed Saturday morning after a pickup pulled into his path in Auburndale, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Investigators said Kevin Kessler, 58, of Lakeland, was driving a 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan, with his wife, Laritha, on the back, when 58-year-old Kevin McKay of Auburndale attempted to turn his 2016 white Chevrolet Silverado left from westbound Gapway Road onto southbound Auburn Hill Blvd.
As the truck crossed over the eastbound lane, Kessler laid the motorcycle down on its left side and slid a short distance into the passenger side of the truck. Both Kesslers were wearing helmets and were thrown from the motorcycle.
McKay, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.
Passersby helped the Kesslers until Polk County Fire Rescue workers arrived, but Kevin Kessler died at the scene. Laritha Kessler was rushed to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, where she is in stable condition with bruises, abrasions, and a possible fractured vertebra. She is expected to make a full recovery.
No charges have been filed awaiting the completion of the investigation.
