Essex Junction, VT : UVM student Christina Menke killed in a car accident on Interstate 89 Saturday afternoon, April 4, 2015

Funeral services will be held this afternoon for the University of Vermont student killed in a car accident last weekend.

Christina Menke, 18, of Essex, died at the scene of the crash on Interstate 89 Saturday afternoon. Authorities say she and two fellow students were returning from a day of skiing. Police say their preliminary investigation suggests the driver, Jacob Dahreddine, 19, of Maryland, fell asleep at the wheel. He and the other passenger, Julia Rickner, 18, of Bristol, remain hospitalized in serious condition.

Menke's funeral is at 1 p.m. at the Essex Alliance Church.

A campus memorial service will be held Friday at 4 p.m. in the Davis Center.
