LONDON, KY : A two-vehicle crash on Friday, June 2, 2017

A two-vehicle crash Friday morning left two people in critical condition.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root said Deputy Taylor McDaniel responded to a call of a crash that occurred on US-25 at approximately 11:10 AM when a pickup truck pulled out from Fariston Road in front of the path of a car going southbound.

The driver of the Dodge pickup was Dache Dawkins, 25 of Connecticut, with no injuries reported. The driver of the other vehicle, a Chryslter convertible, was Leonard Shultis, 71 of Somerset. His wife, Ruth Shutlis, 65 of Somerset, was riding as passenger.

Both Leonard and Ruth Shutlis were critically injured in the crash and were airlifted to University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Assisting at the scene of the crash for Laurel Sheriff's office was Accident Reconstructionist and Detective Chris Edwards, Capt. Chuck Johnson, Sgt. Brett Reeves and Deputy Brandon Broughton. Also assisting was Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, London-Laurel Rescue Squad and Lily Volunteer Fire Department.
