Las Vegas, NV : 25-year-old woman died in a hit-and-run crash in the south valley on Monday morning, December 21, 2015

A 25-year-old Las Vegas woman died this morning after she was hit by an SUV in a hit-and-run crash in the south valley, according to Metro Police.

The crash happened about 6:10 a.m. on South Jones Boulevard, south of West Patrick Lane, police said.

The woman, whose name has not yet been released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office, was crossing Jones when she was hit, police said. She was not in a crosswalk, police said.

The driver, later identified Gaston Martinez, 40, of Las Vegas was not injured and left the scene, police said.

He was found at a nearby grocery store and taken to the Clark County Detention Center, police said. Martinez was being held without bail on one count of driving under the influence and one count of duty to stop at the scene of a crash, according to jail records.

Jones Boulevard was closed in both directions between West Post Road and Patrick, according to police.

This was the 120th traffic-related death this year investigated by Metro.
