Sarasota, FL : Driver dies after I-75 crash between beer and ice cream trucks on April, Monday 3rd 2017

A truck driver died in a crash this morning when two semis collided on Interstate 75, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.
According to the FHP, Matthew Simon, 27, of Riverview was driving a Freightliner semi south on I-75 in the right lane near mile marker 184 at about 5 a.m. Simon failed to reduce speed as he approached a slower Freightliner semi being driven by Fernando Irizarry Rivera, 61, of Saint Cloud in the same lane.
One truck was carrying ice cream and the other was carrying beer, FHP says.
The front of Simon’s truck struck the the rear trailer of Rivera’s truck, FHP says, and Simon’s truck traveled off the roadway onto the paved and caught on fire.
Simon was fatally injured, FHP reports, while Rivera was treated at Sarasota Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. It is unknown if either driver was wearing a seat belt.
The crash, which closed lanes of I-75 south for hours, remains under investigation.
