Los Angeles, CA : 70-year-old critical condition in a hit-and-run crash on Sunday December 13 2015

A 70-year-old nun was left in critical condition by a hit-and-run driver who struck her at a Boyle Heights intersection next to her church, Los Angeles police said Thursday.
The collision occurred at 5:20 p.m. Sunday at Winter Street and North Evergreen Avenue, leaving Sister Raquel Diaz of the neighboring Church of Assumption severely injured.
A vehicle traveling southbound on Evergreen hit Diaz and continued southbound, not stopping to help the nun, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.
The vehicle that struck her was described only as a black truck. No description of the driver was available, police said.
Cameras in the area that could have recorded the crash were not working, and no video or photos were available, according to LAPD Officer Robert Cortez, who on Thursday said Diaz was doing poorly.
Police said Diaz is the director of religious education at Church of Assumption, located on Blanchard Street next to the site where she was struck. She has been a nun for more than 50 years, according to the LAPD release.
The church has an affiliated elementary school affiliated that is also next to the crash site.
