Apple Valley, CA : A 41-year-old man died after a crash on Bear Valley Road On Wednesday, May 25th, 2016
Authorities said a 41-year-old man died after a crash on Bear Valley Road Wednesday afternoon.
The crash was first reported just before 3:03 p.m. as deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a traffic collision on the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Westmont Drive, just east of Apple Valley Road in front of the
entrance to a Wells Fargo bank and El Pollo Loco restaurant.
The vehicles were later identified as a four-door beige 2016 Cadillac Cross-over driven by Shirley Perrotta, 77 of Victorville, and a two-door primer grey 1995 Honda Civic driven by Michael Rafael Gonzalez, 41, of Apple Valley, officials said.
Apple Valley Fire Protection District Chief Sid Hultquist told the Daily Press paramedic engines arrived on scene and found that one person was deceased, while another suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Through investigation it was determined Perrotta was driving east in the left turn lane of Bear Valley Road, west of Westmont Drive while Gonzalez was driving west on Bear Valley Road.
As Gonzalez was approaching the intersection of Westmont Drive, Perrotta made a left turn in front of Gonzalez. Gonzalez struck the side of Perrotta’s vehicle as she suffered minor injuries from the collision but did not require transport to a medical
facility.
Gonzalez was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased, officials said.
The Apple Valley Sheriff's Station Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) officials arrived and began conducting an investigation. The eastbound lanes of Bear Valley Road were closed for several hours between Apple Valley and Deep Creek
roads just before 3:30 p.m. as authorities responded.
