DARROW, LA : Three die in crash that snapped electrical pole on Tuesday, 19th December 2023

A Gonzales man was arrested after a car crash before 11 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19 left three people dead.

The location of the crash was on Louisiana 44 in the Pelican Point subdivision in Darrow, close to the river, according to St. Amant Fire Volunteer Department Chief James LeBlanc.

According to the Louisiana State Police, Jaylynn Burbank, 28, was driving a Ram 1500 before hitting a Jeep Cherokee. The crash led the Jeep to veer off the road, hit an electrical pole and become engulfed in flames.

LeBlanc said a car with three adults inside hit and snapped an electrical pole in half. Everyone in the car died as a result of the accident, and the area was left without power. The 5th Ward and Sorrento volunteer fire departments also responded to the scene, he added.

Burbank, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, troopers said.
