Los Angeles, CA : Four people injured after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near Vista Del Lago Road on Sunday, Nov 8, 2015

Two people were seriously hurt and airlifted to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Sunday following a two-vehicle crash near Vista Del Lago Road on Interstate 5, emergency response officials said.

Two other people were also injured for a total of four patients who received emergency medical attention, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

The traffic collision happened shortly before 11:40 a.m. Sunday in the northbound lanes of I-5 near Vista Del Lao Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Paramedics dispatched to the crash responded to reports that one car overturned and rolled 30 feet down an embankment, Fire Department Inspector Robert Diaz said.

“We had one vehicle go 30 feet down an embankment,” he said. “We had four patients, two of the critical."

Paramedics requested a rescue helicopter take the two “critically injured” patients hurt in the crash to a trauma hospital, he said.

Helicopter pilots airlifted two patients to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital shortly before 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Initial reports received by the CHP from passing motorists identified an occupant of the rollover vehicle as having been ejected from the vehicle.
