A medical helicopter had to be called after a driver crashed his Ford Mustang onto its roof in a deep ditch along State Street in Wadsworth around 7 p.m. Sunday night. According to Wadsworth Assistant Fire Chief Ron Likley the driver was trapped inside the car with his arm outside and under the car. Getting the driver free required a prolonged extrication, about 45 minutes according to Likley. Likley said that driver was alert and in stable condition but because of the situation a medical helicopter was called to speed up transport to a hospital once the patient was freed. The helicopter landed about a half mile from the scene on Athens Avenue in a undeveloped housing allotment. The Ford Mustang was on its roof in a ditch on the west side on State Street about a half mile north of Dalton Drive. Likley said that the passenger told them that the driver had just purchased the car and was driving recklessly. A for sale sign was found in the wreckage. The passenger was treated and released at the scene. No other cars were involved in the crash.
