Biddeford,ME : Lebanon resident dies in Alfred moped accident on September, Monday 25th 2017

An 81-year old Lebanon resident was killed Monday afternoon when his moped was struck by a car making a turn off of Route 202 in Alfred, said State Police Public Information Officer Steve McCausland.

Russell Faxon was riding his moped behind a large box truck at the same time that 65-year old Laura Melisi, of Acton, was turning left into the Shaker Pond ice cream shop.

According to McCausland, Melisi made the left-hand turn after the box truck had passed, but did not see the moped riding behind the truck and struck the vehicle.

Faxon was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene. Melisi and the passenger she was riding with did not require medical assistance.

“The two folks in the car were not injured and did not need to be taken to the hospital,” McCausland said.
