IDAHO FALLS, ID : A crash involving an Idaho Falls on Thursday, November, 30th 2017
Idaho State Police is investigating a crash involving an Idaho Falls Police Officer and two other vehicles.
Trooper Jared Shively with the Idaho State Police says the IFPD officer was driving east on Broadway Street on the way to a report of a bar fight around 8:15 p.m.
A woman driving a white Ford Taurus was in a westbound lane attempting to turn left.
“She started creeping herself into the intersection she said that she couldn’t see traffic very well,” Shively said.
The driver came out into the intersection slowly trying to yield to traffic but was crossing the path of the oncoming drivers in the opposite lane of travel.
As the woman began to turn she cut off the oncoming police car. The officer engaged his brakes trying to avoid colliding with the Taurus, but instead, both vehicles were pushed south onto Utah Ave.
The officer clipped the front of the Taurus and hit a Dodge Ram head-on, which was heading northbound on Utah Ave.
The officer and other cars were traveling eastbound, and the officer attempted to avoid the colliding with the Taurus ended up clipping the front of the white Taurus. the vehicles were pushed south onto Utah Avenue and the officer then hit a Dodge Ram pickup truck head-on.
A citation was issued to the driver of the Taurus for not yielding the right of way.
The IFPD officer did not have his lights on and was going the speed limit.
“It’s just a reminder to be safe and cautious drivers,” Shively said.
