South Pasadena, FL : Drunk driver crashes into Gulfport Walmart early Thursday on June 26, 2014
A St. Petersburg man was arrested on DUI charges early Thursday after crashing his SUV into a Walmart store.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, 32-year-old Frank J. Lucero was drunk when he drove his 2001 Chevy Suburban directly into the produce section of the WalMart neighborhood market at 6850 Gulfport Boulevard South in South Pasadena.
There were no injuries reported.
The crash left a gaping hole in the store and thousands of dollars in damage. Store officials said they are working to have the store open sometime this morning.
A witness told the sheriff's office that Lucero was stopped at a stop sign around midnight in front of the store. Then, his SUV sped forward and crashed into the store's produce section.
Lucero is facing charges of DUI with property damage. Deputies said he failed field sobriety tests.
