Arcadia, CA :Three Fontana teenagers die in vehicle crash at Angeles National Forest on Thursday, August 11th, 2016
A fundraiser is being planned to benefit the families of three teenagers from Fontana who died in a vehicle crash in the Angeles National Forest.
The teens' bodies were found on Aug. 1 in a ravine 600 feet below Angeles Crest Highway, close to mile marker 40.
Daniel Gamboa, 19, Kasey Vance, 18, and Samantha Ornelas, 17, were the victims of the crash.
On July 30, they had told family members they were planning to go hiking in the forest over the weekend. But when they did not return home, family members notified police that the teens were missing, and a massive search was conducted.
Rescue teams found Gamboa's 2008 Toyota Tundra pickup truck in the ravine.
The tragic accidental deaths of the teens have sadly impacted the Fontana community and the Fontana Police Department. One of the victims is a brother of a Fontana Police dispatcher.
The Fontana Police Benefits Association (non-sworn personnel) will be partnering with the Fontana Police Officers Association and the Police Management Association to sponsor an event to benefit the families.
The event will take place on Thursday, Aug. 11 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Fontana P.D., 17005 Upland Avenue.
The combined associations will serve hamburgers and hot dogs. They suggest a donation of $10 or more. All of the proceeds will be divided among the three families.
