Cameron,TX : 2 injured as car crashes into Cameron store on October, Thursday 26th 2017
Two people were transported to a Temple hospital Thursday after a vehicle was driven into a Cameron department store, Cameron Fire Chief Henry Horelica said.
The incident happened at about 11:17 a.m. at the Bealls store at 1601 W. Fourth St.
The driver of a vehicle mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, Horelica said.
The vehicle plowed about 40 feet into the store through the glass and doorway, where it knocked debris into a cashier’s counter where an employee and customer stood. The debris knocked them down, Cameron Police Officer Clay Domel said.
Horelica didn’t know the conditions of the employee or customer, but said he didn’t believe their injuries were life threatening.
Both were transported by ambulance to Scott & White Medical Center-Temple, and the driver was transported to a local hospital, Domel said.
The 77-year-old driver was released and won’t face any criminal charge, Domel said.
