Fatal motorcycle accident in Lincoln County
An Arabela man died Wednesday when the motorcycle he was riding collided with trees and rocks on New Mexico Highway 368.Sgt. Emmanuel T. Gutierrez, public information officer for the New Mexico State Police, said the accident occurred about 6:30 p.m., Oct. 2, at mile post 11 in Arabela. The driver, Donald Stevenson, 49, of Arabela was thrown from the motorcycle and killed.State police officers determined that the 2009 Honda motorcycle was traveling southbound on NM368, when it crossed the southbound lane into the northbound lane coming out of a curb. The motorcycle went off the northbound shoulder and crashed into some trees and large rocks, according to Gutierrez.Stevenson was not wearing a helmet. Alcohol is not considered a factor in the crash, Gutierrez said.
