Columbia, MO : Centralia man dead in crash on Route HH in Boone County on Wednesday morning, January 6, 2016
A Centralia man died Wednesday morning after his pickup ran a stop sign and collided with a van on Route HH north of Columbia.
Lawrence Reichert, 81, of Centralia was pronounced dead at University Hospital, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's crash report. The report said Reichert was southbound on Brown Station Road and was T-boned by a westbound van on Route HH driven by Christopher Ashburn, 19, of Columbia.
Ashburn was taken to MU Women's and Children's Hospital in a private vehicle with minor injuries after the accident at 7:42 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Highway Patrol.
Gale Blomenkamp, assistant chief of the Boone County Fire Protection District, said the fatal accident was the second on Route HH in about 15 minutes. Emergency crews at the first scene, which left one person with minor injuries, went to the second crash because it was more severe, he said.
The Highway Patrol was investigating both crashes.
